Netanyahu: The Military Campaign Is Not Over

In a televised address, the Prime Minister said the multi-front war that Israel has fought over the past two years is not over. Israel agreed to a hostage exchange and ceasefire last week that could possibly lead to an end to the conflict.

“The military campaign is not over. There are still major security challenges ahead of us. Some of our enemies are trying to recover in order to attack us again,” Netanyahu warned. “We are on top of this. With joint strength, we achieved spectacular victories, victories that stunned the entire world.”

Netanyahu made the remarks just hours before the last 20 living Israeli hostages held by Hamas were set to be released. Hamas and Israel also agreed to a ceasefire. The deal is part of a framework proposed by President Donald Trump to permanently end the conflict and rebuild Gaza.

The statement from Netanyahu suggests that Israel plans to restart the genocide in Gaza or any of the other wars it has waged throughout the region over the past two years. Ansar Allah, the ruling group in Yemen, has imposed a blockade on Israeli shipping in the Red Sea, but that was a response to the genocide in Gaza.

During previous ceasefires in Gaza, Ansar Allah halted its attacks on Israeli-linked shipping. Hezbollah has complained about a ceasefire in southern Lebanon, even as Israel has violated the truce hundreds of times.

Over the weekend, an Israeli drone injured a UN peacekeeper in Lebanon.

In June, Israel started an unprovoked war with Iran. That conflict lasted 12 days, and the US joined the Israeli strikes on Iran. The war derailed negotiations between Washington and Tehran aimed at establishing a new nuclear agreement.

Trump and Netanyahu have threatened to restart the war with Iran if Tehran resumes its nuclear enrichment program.
