Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will present President Donald Trump with intelligence about Iran’s missile program and push the US to attack the Islamic Republic. In June, Tel Aviv convinced Trump that Tehran was nearing a nuclear weapons capability, resulting in a US attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.
“We will talk about Gaza, the region, but first and foremost about Iran,” Netanyahu said. “I will present to Trump principles for negotiations with Iran – which are important for those who want peace and security in the Middle East.”
Netanyahu is expected to meet with Trump on Wednesday.
The Israeli leader is expected to provide Trump with intelligence about Iran’s missile program and push the President to authorize an attack on Iran. The US is currently in negotiations with Iran. Tehran says it is willing to agree to restrictions and inspections on its nuclear program, but it is unwilling to place limitations on its ballistic missile capabilities.
In June, Israel passed intelligence to the White House that Iran was within weeks of obtaining a nuclear weapon. While that assessment was not shared by international experts or the US intelligence community, Trump has repeated the Israeli claim and attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities.
Netanyahu is again urging Trump to attack Iran. At the end of last year, the Israeli leader traveled to Florida to lobby the President to restart the war. Since Trump has threatened to attack Iran several times and engaged in a massive military buildup in the Middle East.
