Most Americans are not buying the White House’s narrative that the war on Iran is making the world a safer place.

A poll released by Fox News on Wednesday found that 51% of Americans believe they are “less safe” because of the US and Israeli war against Iran. Only three in ten Americans thought the military actions were making them safer.

Americans were overwhelmingly opposed to Trump launching a war against Iran before the opening attack on Saturday. A snap poll on the day of the attack found under  30% of Americans supported the operation.

Since a greater number of Republicans have said that they support the conflict. The Fox News poll said the War in Iran was a fifty-fifty issue with Americans. However, other surveys have found far fewer Americans approve of the war.

While the administration initially presented the war as a quick operation, top officials have given increasingly longer timelines for the conflict.

The war has turned into a regional conflict as Iran has responded by attacking Israel, the US, and Washington’s allies in the Middle East. At the same time, American and Israeli warplanes and missiles continue to pound Iran.
