Trump Says Muslim Nations Must Join Abraham Accord for Iran Peace Deal

President Donald Trump conditioned the Iran peace deal on several Muslim nations joining the Abraham Accords. The Accords are a series of agreements that gave incentives to Muslim nations to improve relations with Israel.

“Negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran are proceeding nicely! It will only be a Great Deal for all or, no Deal at all — Back to the Battlefront and shooting, but bigger and stronger than ever before — And nobody wants that!” the President wrote on Truth Social Monday

“Those Countries discussed are Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates (already a Member!), Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain (already a Member!).” He continued, “Therefore, I am mandatorily requesting that all Countries immediately sign the Abraham Accords, and that, if Iran signs its Agreement with me, as President of the United States of America, it would be an Honor to have them also be part of this unparalleled World Coalition.”

Linking a peace agreement with Iran to third-party nations normalizing ties with Israel will complicate negotiations that already have unresolved issues. While US officials have claimed that a deal with Iran to end the war is nearly complete, the two sides are publicly stating differing positions on the Strait of Hormuz, Lebanon, and Iran’s nuclear program.

The push to include Muslim nations in the Abraham Accords could be an effort to give Israel control over the al-Aqsa Mosque Compound or Temple Mount. The site in Jerusalem is currently under Jordanian custodianship.

“US and Israel ‘actively working’ to strip Jordan of Al-Aqsa custodianship, sources say,” Middle East Eye reports. “The plan has sparked fears that Jordan’s role in Jerusalem could be sidelined in favor of a new arrangement aligned with Israeli interests.”
