President Donald Trump claimed that American weapons stockpiles were full and said he would arrest leakers who have been sources for multiple reports that the military’s arsenal is running low.
“The US has massive amounts of ‘munitions,’ especially of certain types. Additionally, large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the US as needed,” the President wrote on Truth Social Thursday. “The ‘leakers’ of these treasonous statements are being hunted down. Long-term jail sentences will be sought!”
Multiple outlets have reported speaking with sources who confirmed that the US is facing shortages of Patriot, THAAD, SM-6, SM-3, Tomahawk, JASSM, ATACMS, and PrSM missiles. The Center for Strategic and International Studies said the US has used about half of its pre-war inventory of advanced interceptors and standoff munitions.
The head of European Command has also informed the White House that he needs additional warships to continue to provide air defense for Israel.
According to US officials speaking with the press, Iran is not facing the same munition shortages. Tehran is believed to have 70% of its launchers and missiles.
Last month, the military advised Trump that further escalating the conflict could dangerously deplete the American weapons stockpiles.
