  • The Trump Administration will drop its challenge to a Texas voter ID law. [Link]
  • The US will spend $400 billion over the next ten years on its nuclear weapons arsenal. [Link]
  • US veterans of the Iraq War continue to suffer and die from diseases caused by the burn pits. The US government has not acknowledged that the burn pits are causing any diseases. This makes it more difficult for vets to get care and treatment. An advocate for victims of the burn pits, Amie Muller, died of cancer that was likely caused by the burn pits. [Link]
  • Former California State Senator Leland Yee has been sentenced to five years in jail. Yee pled guilty to corruption and weapons trafficking charges. Yee had advocated for strict gun control as a state senator. [Link]
  • Body camera footage was released of a Tuscan Arizona police officer pushing an 86 year old woman to the ground. The officer also pepper sprayed a 65-year-old woman. [Link]
  • Russia and China veto a UN resolution to impose sanctions on Assad for allegedly using chemical weapons. The resolution was drafted by France and the UK. US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley supported the resolution and condemned Russia for vetoing it. [Link]
  • The UAE signs a deal with Russia to buy a batch of fighter jets and work with Russia to build the next generation fighter jet. [Link]
  • The Taliban attack two government targets in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul. The attack has killed at least one person and injured 35 others. [Link]
  • In Libya, women and children are being beaten, raped, starved, and forced into prostitution. Refugees seeking to get to Europe are being put into detention centers that are forced labor camps. Nearly half of women and children migrants report some sexual abuse or rape, a third of the time from someone in military uniform. [Link]
  • The Iraqi military has captured the last major road linking Mosul to Syria. This cuts off the main path for ISIS to escape Mosul. [Link]
  • US officials admit that they did not get any important information in the botched raid in Yemen. [Link]
