  • Weapons makers, such as Lockheed Martian and Raytheon, stocks surge following Trump’s victory. [Link]
  • Russian President Putin believes the Trump election could be a new start for US-Russian Relations. [Link]
  • US-backed Iraqi Kurdish forces seize the town of Bashiqa, Iraq. The town is located to the East of Mosul and was previously held by ISIS. Iraqi forces took the town of Hamam al-Alil, located South of Mosul, from ISIS. [Link]
  • The US is using Apache Helicopters to attack ISIS in the Mosul offensive. [Link]
  • Humanitarian agencies are reporting claims of Iraqi forces torturing and killing civilians in towns liberated from ISIS. This occurred when other Iraqi cities were liberated from ISIS control. Iraqi forces often suspect the victims to be members of ISIS.[Link]
  • USAID provides key facts and stats about the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. The most striking stat is 21.6 million of Yemen 26 million people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. [Link]
  • Erdogan threatens to allow 3 million Syrian refugees into Europe. This is in response to the EU criticizing Turkey’s post-coup crackdown. [Link]
  • The recreational use of marijuana passes in Maine. The close vote was announced the day after the election. Maine joins California, Massachusets, and Nevada as states that legalized weed in 2016 election. [Link]
