  • Trump instructs the State and Defense Departments to prepare a plan for the creation of safe zones in Syria. Trump has given the departments 90 days to develop the plans. [Link]
  • The US Border Patrol Cheif says he was forced out by the Trump Administration. He reports being asked to leave, and he decided to resign. [Link]
  • The Mexican President cancels a trip to the White House in response to Trump’s plans to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. [Link]
  • Trump and Putin have a phone called planned for Saturday. [Link]
  • A Greek court blocks the extradition of eight Turkish soldiers. Turkey accuses the soldiers of being involved in the July coup. [Link]
  • Several Syrian rebel groups are joining together to fight the al-Qaeda-linked Syrian rebel groups. The fighting started when al-Nusra attacked a Syrian rebel group who is attending the peace talks. [Link]
  • The UN warns that immediate action is needed to prevent a famine in Yemen in 2017. [Link]
