On COI#81, Connor Freeman – writer at The Libertarian Institute – returns to the show to discuss Biden continued support for the genocide in Yemen. On the campaign trail, Biden used harsh rhetoric about Saudi Arabia. Once he became president, he promised to end “offensive” US support for Saudi’s war in Yemen. However, the Biden administration is using “defensive” support for Saudi continue Trump’s same policy for supporting the war in Yemen.
In March of 2015, Saudi started bombing Yemen. The bombing has continued for several years. The US rarely condemns the Saudi bombing of Yemen, even though many Saudi bombs fall on civilian targets. The Houthi occasionally fire missiles back at Saudi Arabia, however, it is rare the missiles cause any damage in Saudi. When a missile lands in Saudi, the Biden administration believes that is unacceptable aggression and vows more support for Saudi Arabia.
Along with continuing Trump deadly policy of supporting Saudi in Yemen, Biden is also continuing Trump’s maximum pressure campaign against Iran. The sanctions regime is causing severe suffering for the Iranian people, and Biden’s new deputy Iran Envoy admits that is the point of sanctions in his new book. Connor explains how Biden is expanding the problems Trump created in the Middle East.
