A new poll found that only 23% of Americans prefer President Donald Trump to continue the war against Iran.

A new AP poll found just 23% of Americans want the war to continue; the same number of respondents told pollsters they want Trump to end the conflict immediately. The most popular policy among Americans is pausing the military campaign and engaging Iran in talks.

Even among Republicans, under half (48%) support continuing the conflict.

Of issues relating to the war against Iran, Americans are most concerned about gas prices and negotiating a permanent end to the conflict. Just one in four independents and Democrats said that Israel’s security was a very or somewhat important issue.

Overall, Americans disapprove of the war. A Reuters poll released on Tuesday found that just 33% of Americans approve of the war against Iran, while over 60% disapprove of the conflict. Disapproval of the war may stem from Americans being unclear about the reasons for the conflict. Nearly 70 percent of Americans told Reuters they think President Trump has not “clearly explained the goals of US military involvement in Iran.”

The war against Iran has been unpopular with Americans since Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu started it. In June, the President saw a slight bump in his approval rating after reaching a ceasefire with Iran. The truce collapsed earlier this month after the US and Israel continued to violate the Memorandum of Understanding.
