Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that President Donald Trump agreed that any peace agreement with Iran must include Tehran abandoning nuclear enrichment.
“President Trump and I agreed that any final agreement with Iran must eliminate the nuclear danger,” the Israeli leader wrote on X Sunday. “That means dismantling Iran’s nuclear enrichment sites and removing its enriched nuclear material from its territory.”

Netanyahu published the statement as multiple outlets report that the US and Iran are nearing a peace agreement. While the full details of the agreement are unknown, an Iranian official stated that Tehran is unwilling to export its enriched uranium.
Iran has a stockpile of about 1,000 pounds of uranium enriched to 60%. Tehran has long argued that nuclear enrichment is critical to its sovereignty. The US intelligence community and the international nuclear watchdog say there is no indication that Iran has decided to weaponize its nuclear program.
The reported deal also includes a ceasefire on all fronts of the war, including in Lebanon. In the past 24 hours, Israel has stepped up strikes against Lebanon. In his statement, Netanyahu said, President Trump also reaffirmed Israel’s right to defend itself against threats on every front, including Lebanon.

After a phone call with Trump last week about a potential agreement, sources said Netanyahu was angry, and the Israeli Ambassador to the US was tasked with informing American lawmakers about the conversation.
