Sources told the Jerusalem Post that President Donald Trump is nearing a decision to expand the war against Iran.

“It appears President Trump is preparing to expand the campaign against Iran,” one official said. “The remaining questions are ‘how much’ and ‘when.’ He understands that, barring an unexpected development, the chances of a diplomatic solution is now virtually nonexistent.”

A second official noted that Trump could elect against escalating the conflict, as the President has changed course “at the last minute” before.

The war has already escalated over the past week after the ceasefire collapsed. The US has started to attack civilian infrastructure. US officials told Reuters that the current bombing campaign is a “shaping operation” aimed at giving the President more options to escalate the conflict.

The White House has floated several potential escalations, including an invasion, a limited operation to seize Iran’s enriched uranium, and widespread attacks against civilian infrastructure.

So far, Israel has not joined the US attacks on Iran, and Iran has not attacked Israel. Israeli officials told The Jerusalem Post that Tel Aviv would order attacks on Iran if attacked first or at Trump’s request.
