At least three Palestinians have died in Gaza due to three different causes, according to reports from the Strip on Thursday, as the civilian population is still facing Israeli attacks while living in rubble and tents amid harsh weather and under continued Israeli aid restrictions.
According to Middle East Eye, a one-month-old infant, Saeed Asaeed Abdeen, died in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, due to the cold weather, as families are living in flimsy tents that have been hit with floods and heavy winds. Israel has maintained restrictions on tents and other shelters entering Gaza despite the horrendous living conditions, and the US and Israel are not allowing reconstruction to start.
The MEE report said that Saeed was the fourth child to die due to cold since harsh weather hit the Strip last week. The report said a total of 17 people have died due to the weather conditions, which includes people killed by collapsing buildings, as many Palestinians are living in buildings that were damaged by the Israeli bombing campaign.
The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that a child was killed and several others were injured when an unexploded bomb left behind by Israeli forces in a house detonated. In a separate incident, a number of Palestinians were injured by an unexploded Israeli ordnance in Gaza City.
WAFA also reported that Israeli forces opened fire on a group of civilians near Khan Younis, southern Gaza, killing at least one. Footage from the Anadolu Agency shows Palestinians injured by Israeli fire being treated at the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. Israeli fire was also reported in Gaza City, where a teenage boy was injured.
The deaths highlight the different threats facing Palestinians living in Gaza despite the US-backed ceasefire deal, which Israel continues to violate without facing any consequences from the Trump administration. Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Thursday that since the ceasefire was supposed to go into effect, Israeli forces have killed at least 395 Palestinians and injured 1,088.
