Trump Claims Israel and Iran Want a Ceasefire

After an exchange of missile fire, President Donald Trump claimed Israel and Iran were now moving towards peace.

“Both sides, Israel and Iran, are looking to do an immediate CEASEFIRE!” the President wrote on Truth Social Monday. “Final negotiations on “Peace” are proceeding, subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way.”

Trump’s assertion that the two sides are moving towards peace followed the most significant ceasefire violation in two months. The truce began to crumble on Sunday when Israel attacked Beirut.

When Iran agreed to the ceasefire with the US in April, Tehran insisted that the truce extend to all warring parties, including Hezbollah in Lebanon. However, Israel has ramped up attacks and expanded its control in Lebanon since the start of the ceasefire.

Before the attack, Iran said that if Israel attacked Lebanon’s capital, it would cross a red line. Following the bombing of Beirut, Iran launched several missiles at Israel. Tel Aviv responded with attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities.

After the Israeli strikes, Tehran and Tel Aviv said they did not plan to conduct further attacks.

In his post, Trump said the US blockade of Iran will remain in place until a deal is in place. “The Blockade will remain in place, and in full force and effect, until a “Final Deal” is reached. Things should move quickly,” he wrote.
