Trump Says $5 Billion Pledged for Gaza Reconstruction, But Hamas Must Disarm

President Donald Trump announced that the Board of Peace had received $5 billion in donations for Gaza aid and reconstruction. The President also repeated his demand that Hamas disarm.

Trump wrote on Truth Social Sunday that the Board of Peace “will announce that Member States have pledged more than $5 BILLION DOLLARS toward the Gaza Humanitarian and Reconstruction efforts.”

He added that member states “have committed thousands of personnel to the International Stabilization Force and Local Police to maintain Security and Peace for Gazans. Very importantly, Hamas must uphold its commitment to Full and Immediate Demilitarization.”

The US-appointed head of the Board of Peace explained that Hamas must disarm before any reconstruction or Israeli withdrawal in Gaza begins. “That includes the disarmament of all factions in Gaza, not just Hamas.” He continued, “That is the condition under which we can see Israeli forces withdraw from the current Yellow Line in order to be able to begin any reconstruction for the Gaza Strip.”

The President has repeatedly claimed that Hamas agreed to disarm under the ceasefire and hostage deal signed in October. However, the Palestinian group conditioned disarmament on the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

Since the deal was signed, Israel has continued to violate the truce and moved towards annexing the West Bank. Overnight  Sunday, Israel killed 12 Palestinians. Israel has killed over 600 Palestinians during the ceasefire.

On Sunday, Israel’s Kan news agency reported the government had adopted a policy that will register large sections of the West Bank as state lands. Finance Minister Betzel Smotrick said the move will continue “the settlement revolution to control all our lands.”

Under the current administration in Tel Aviv, Israel is rapidly expanding settlements in the West Bank. The settlements are part of Israel’s scheme to annex the territory and block the creation of a Palestinian state.
