On Saturday, the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran that killed the country’s leader. Trump has given multiple reasons for attacking Iran, including Tehran’s nuclear weapons and regime change.
Iran has responded by striking US military bases across the Middle East and Israel. Tehran also launched an unsuccessful attack on US warships.
Congress did not authorize the war, and the US was in negotiations with Iran when the attack began. During the address on Sunday, Trump told the members of the Iranian armed forces to surrender or be killed.
The President told The Daily Mail that the conflict could drag on for weeks. “It’s always been a four week process… It’s a big country. It’ll take four weeks — or less,” Trump said.
