US News

  • Fauci backs vaccine mandates for US children and says the FDA should have enough data by October to determine if it is safe for children. [Link]
  • Video surfaces of a Colorado cop murdering a dog. After shooting the dog, the officer refused to let the owner comfort or take the dog to a vet. [Link]

China

  • US warships passed through the Taiwan Strait. [Link]

Australia 

  • An Australian soldier who reported war crimes had her home targeted with a small explosive. [Link]

Afghanistan 

  • The US carried out a drone strike in Kabul, killing at least nine members of one family. Six children were killed. The US says the strike targeted an ISIS car bomb. [Link]
  • The US says it has evacuated over 100,000 people from Afghanistan and at least 1,000 remain at the airport to be flown out. [Link]
  • Turkey says the Kabul airport is in need of repair before civilian fights can resume. The Taliban are talking with Turkey about providing personnel to operate the airport. [Link]
  • The Taliban say they will allow all foreign nationals – and Afghans with permission to travel to another country – to leave Afghanistan. [Link]
  • The State Department says there are still 250 Americans in Afghanistan trying to leave. [Link]
  • The US destroyed the last CIA outpost in Afghanistan. [Link]
  • Khalid Noor will lead a group – that includes Dostum – in negotiations with the Taliban. [Link]
  • Five rockets were fired at the Kabul airport. The US reported the rockets were intercepted. ISIS-K said they carried out the rocket attack. [Link]

Middle East

  • Half of Americans think military aid to Israel should be restricted. [Link]
  • Israel bombed Gaza in response to flaming balloons being released at the border. In a separate protest, Palestinians in Gaza gathered at the border. Several were injured by Israeli fire. [Link]
  • Iranian officials met with officials from several Gulf Arab states in Iraq. [Link]
  • A Houthi strike on a military base in southern Yemen killed 30-40 Saudi-backed soldiers. [Link]
  • A Saudi airstrike killed 12 Houthi fighters in Yemen. [Link]

Congo

  • Militants killed 19 people in a night raid on a village in the Congo. The ADF is suspected to be behind the attack. [Link]
