US News

  • New Jersey will divest from Ben and Jerry’s parent company because of its decision not to sell ice cream in Israeli settlements. [Link]

Korea

  • North Korea says it test-launched a new rail-based missile system. [Link]

China

  • The US signs a new anti-China defense pact with the UK and Australia. Australia will get access to US nuclear submarine technology to build eight subs. [Link]
  • Taiwan announces it will spend an additional $8 billion on defense over the next five years. Taiwan said the growing Chinese threat was the reason for the move. [Link]

Middle East

  • Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz says his country would support a return to the Iran nuclear deal if the US allowed for backup sanctions and military actions. [Link]
  • Iran removed some IAEA cameras that were damaged and destroyed by an Israeli attack on a nuclear facility. [Link]
  • Israel killed three Shia militia fighters in Syria. An ISIS ambush killed eight Syrian soldiers. [Link]
  • In the past two days, Saudi has bombed Yemen over 40 times and claims to have killed over 80 Houthi fighters. [Link]
  • Protests break out in southern Yemen over poor economic conditions. [Link]

Africa

  • The Libyan National Army, led by Haftar, says his troops battled Libyan rebels in the country’s south. [Link]
  • Human Rights Watch reports Eritrean and Tigrayian forces committed murder and rape against Eritrean refugees of the Tigray ethnic group living in Ethiopia. [Link]
  • The Nigerian air force says it may have killed as many as six civilians in an airstrike. [Link]
