US News

  • Immigration police on horseback assaulted Haitians attempting to enter the US. 1,000s of Haitians have arrived in Mexico and are waiting to cross into the US. The US will relocate about 4,000 Haitians in the US from a processing center where abuse was documented. The US is planning to begin deporting Haitians back to Haiti. [Link]
  • The US added the Guatemalan attorney general and five Salvadorian supreme court justices to the list of “undemocratic and corrupt” officials. [Link]
  • The CIA reports one of its agents was inflicted with “Havana Syndrome.” The illness is not actually proven to exist and the CIA often claims it was caused by mysterious Russian weapons. [Link]
  • The new Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall said his priorities are “China, China, China.” [Link]

Afghanistan

  • Joint Chiefs head Gen Mark Milley met with NATO leaders in Greece to discuss NATO assisting the US in its “over the horizon” operations in Afghanistan. [Link]
  • The Taliban say there is no al-Qaeda presence in Afghanistan. [Link]
  • The UK accidentally exposed the email of 250 Afghan interpreters who are seeking to be relocated to the UK. [Link]

Middle East

  • CENTCOM announced a US airstrike near Idlib, Syria. The US claims the strike targeted an al-Qaeda commander. [Link]
  • ISIS carried out several attacks on Syrian forces and their allied militias. The attacks occurred near Deir Ezzor. [Link]
  • Saudi Arabia carried out nearly two dozen airstrikes in central Yemen. The Saudis claim to have killed 35 Houthi fighters. [Link]

Africa 

  • Members of Libya’s eastern parliament voted to remove confidence in the UN-backed government. [Link]
  • Cameroon’s government says separatists have killed 15 soldiers and several civilians in two bombings this month. [Link]
  • Nigeria is continuing a cell phone service blackout in the country’s northern region. [Link]
