US News

  • A Missouri prosecutor admits Kevin Strickland – who has been in prison for over 40 years for a triple murder – is innocent. [Link]
  • A USA Today investigation finds laws, unions, and culture protect police from facing consequences for committing crimes. [Link]
  • Lt Col Stuart Scheller – who criticized military command over the Afghan withdrawal in a viral video – has agreed to leave the military but is still under a gag order. [Link]
  • Elaine Marie Thomas pled guilty to faking the stress test data on steel used in submarines. Thomas spent decades working for Bradken and the company was fined over $10 million. [Link]

China

  • The US is testing the Iron Dome in Guam to prevent missile attacks from China. [Link]
  • Politico hypes the military threat from China in a newsletter sponsored by Lockheed Martin. [Link]
  • The US has sent over 600 troops to Taiwan in over 100 training missions over the past two years. Over 500 Taiwanese soldiers traveled to the US over the same period for training. [Link]
  • Senators and Representatives traveled to Taiwan on a military plane. China was outraged by the visit. [Link]
  • The head of Germany’s military says his country is committed to the Indo-Pacific. [Link]

Afghanistan 

  • Afghan Army pilots who escaped to Tajikistan as the government was collapsing have been released to the UAE. [Link]
  • About 1,300 Afghan children are living in the US without their parents. [Link]
  • The UN paid the salaries of 23,000 Afghan doctors last month without the money going through the Taliban. [Link]
  • 300,000 Afghans have fled to Iran since the US-built government fell. [Link]
  • The US military still cannot locate the alleged ISIS-K safe house in Kabul it claims was the reason for targeting – and murdering ten members of –  an innocent Afghan family near the end of August. [Link]

Middle East

  • The Israeli military is accelerating plans to attack Iran. [Link]
  • Iran says it warned off two US drones. [Link]
  • The UAE foreign minister traveled to Syria to meet with President Assad. [Link]
  • Three Syrian Kurds related to an SDF commander were killed by a Turkish drone strike. [Link]
  • A journalist in Yemen was killed by a bomb. She was pregnant and her husband was injured in the attack. [Link]
  • Reports from Sanaa claim 25 Yemenis who work for the US government were arrested by the Houthi. [Link]

Ethiopia

  • The Ethiopian government is holding 16 UN workers. Six workers who were arrested have been released. [Link] The number of detained Ethiopians working for the UN has increased to at least 72. [Link]
