  • US Envoy to the Horn of Africa Jeffery Feltman will leave his post at the end of the month. David Satterfield will be appointed to fill the role. [Link]

Russia

  • Protests in Kazahstan have killed at least 13 members of security forces and several protesters/rioters have been reported killed. Reuters reports Russia deployed security forces to assist the government. [Link]
  • Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke with the Russian defense minister. [Link]

China

  • The US, Canada, India, South Korea, Japan, and Australia are starting the Sea Dragon 22 war games. [Link]

  • North Korean state media claims it tested a hypersonic missile. [Link]

Middle East

  • Israel carried out over 20 overnight raids in the West Bank on Thursday. In one raid, Bakeer Mohammad Hashash was shot in the head by Israeli forces after a confrontation. [Link]
  • The Pentagon claims Iranian-trained and supported militias are responsible for the attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria. [Link]
  • Eight rockets hit a US-coalition base in eastern Syria. No injures were reported. [Link]
  • Saudi Arabia is preventing fuel ships from reaching Yemen. [Link]
