  • At least 30 civilians, including children, were killed by NATO airstrikes in Afghanistan. The airstrikes were supporting US and Afghan forces near Kunduz. [Link]
  • 2 US service members were killed while conducting operations against the Taliban in Afghanistan. [Link]
  • Defense Secretary Carter had stated that the offensive against the ISIS capital, Raqqa is only weeks away. US commanders are now contradicting Secretary Carter, saying the offensive can be as far as 6 months away. [Link]
  • Syrian rebel groups clash in East Aleppo. Reporting from Reuters suggests that the jihadist groups were able to seize weapons from other Syrian rebel groups. [Link]
  • Congressman Lieu writes a letter to John Kerry and Ash Carter explaining how US service members could be prosecuted for war crimes in Yemen. The US is providing mid-air refueling to Saudi planes that bomb Yemen. Saudia Arabia has hit several civilian targets including hospitals, schools, and funerals. [Link]
  • Turkey arrests 9 members of the pro-Kurdish political party. Turkey also blocked access to social media sites. [Link]
  • At least 239 people have died in 2 migrant shipwrecks off the Libyan coast on Wednesday. [Link]
  • While the NYC mayor has attempted several interventions to reduce homelessness, there are a record number of homeless people in NYC. [Link]
  • A Federal employee with stage IV cancer could lose his job for using doctor prescribed medical marijuana. [Link]
