  • A large car-bomb explosion tore apart a Toyota Land Cruiser outside Moscow Saturday night, the only person inside was the driver, journalist and political scientist Darya Dugina, the 30-year-old daughter of Alexander Dugin, the nationalist Russian philosopher. AWC

Afghanistan

  • Reuters reported on Monday that the Biden administration plans to continue talks with the Taliban on the Afghan central bank reserves that have been seized by the US as millions in Afghanistan are facing starvation. AWC

Israel

  • The Guardian reports two sources say the CIA disagrees with Israeli labeling six human rights groups as terror organizations. Guardian
  • The CEO of the Israeli firm NSO Group resigns. The company was sanctioned by the US after the proliferation of its Pegasus spyware was revealed. NSO Group sold the technology to several counties that spied on foreign officials, dissidents and human rights activists. Guardian
  • Ben and Jerry’s lost its court battle to prevent its parent company, Unilever, from selling ice cream in the West Bank. Guardian

Iran

  • The EU says it hopes the US will respond to its “final text” proposal that would save the Iran nuclear deal. AJ
  • The US says it is working as quickly as it can to respond to the EU proposal. Reuters
  • Iran on Monday accused the US of “procrastinating” as Washington is still reviewing Tehran’s response to an EU proposal to revive the nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA. AWC

Middle East

  • A newly leaked video making rounds on social media shows Iraq’s new Interior Minister pledging loyalty to his political party while taking office. This is raising more talk of corruption. AWC
