  • Second-degree manslaughter charges have been filed against the police officer who killed Philando Castile. [Link]
  • The USA Freedom Act has increased spying on American citizens. The USA Freedom Act requires telecommunication companies to hold the metadata rather than the NSA attempting to collect it all. The new method of collecting and storing data allows the NSA to has access to almost all metadata of Americans communications. [Link]
  • The NSA’s main spying hub is a 29 story skyscraper located in downtown Manhattan. The windowless building is located at 33 Thomas Street and housing three important switches for routing phone calls. [Link]
  • Belgium police misplaced a USB drive that belonged to one of the suicide bombers from the Paris Attack. The drive was lost for nearly two years before police recently found it. [Link]
  • Russia removes its signature from the International Criminal Court’s founding statute. The move comes after the ICC condemned the Russian annexation of Crimea. Russia never ratified the ICC treaty, so the move is mostly symbolic. [Link]
  • A record 27,500 migrants landed in Italy in October. At least 127 people died making the trip across the Mediterranean Sea. [Link]
  • A bill to create a law that would have banned Masques using loudspeakers for calls to prayer has likely been blocked. Members of the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism party appealed the bill. [Link]
  • An ISIS sympathizer provoked the gun incident between US special forces and Jordanian security at Prince Faisal Airbase in Jordan. It is unknown if the ISIS sympathizer is one of the Syrian moderate rebels that the CIA was training at the base. [Link]
  • The Kurds will not give up ant territory they gained while fighting ISIS. [Link]
  • Syria has used at least at least 150 airstrikes in the new Aleppo offensive. At least 54 people have been killed by those airstrikes. [Link]
