American stealth fighter jets are deploying to an airbase in southern Israel. The US is engaged in a massive military buildup in the Middle East, and President Donald Trump is threatening to attack Iran.

The Times of Israel reports that the F-22s were moved from the US to an airbase in Israel. The outlet notes that 12 fighter jets were dispatched from the UK, but one turned back due to technical issues.

American refueling and cargo aircraft have also been arriving at Israeli airports.

The F-22s are a part of the massive US military buildup in the Middle East. Trump has ordered the deployment of two aircraft carrier strike groups, dozens of fighter jets, support aircraft, and advanced air defense systems to the region.

The US and Iran are currently engaged in negotiations. Trump says if a deal is not reached, he could order an attack on Iran. While Iranian officials have signaled progress in negotiations, an Israeli official told Channel 12 that a diplomatic resolution would be the “surprise of the year.”

Talks between the US and Iranian officials are set to resume on Thursday. Iran has vowed to respond to any attack with strikes on American bases in the Middle East and Israel.
