President Donald Trump dismissed Iran’s response to his peace proposal as totally unacceptable.
“I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called ‘Representatives.’ I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” the President wrote on Truth Social Sunday. The post was published shortly after the Iranian media said Tehran sent Washington its response to the peace proposal made by Trump last week.
The full details of the offer and response are unclear. Tehran says it emphasized to Washington that any end to the conflict must extend to Lebanon. Israel is fighting Hezbollah, with an eye on seizing southern Lebanon.
In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump claimed Iran’s strategy is to delay negotiations. “Iran has been playing games with the United States, and the rest of the World, for 47 years (DELAY, DELAY, DELAY!)” he wrote.
Last week, Trump said that if Iran rejected his proposal, he would restart the bombing. “Assuming Iran agrees to give what has been agreed to, which is, perhaps, a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Fury will be at an end, and the highly effective Blockade will allow the Hormuz Strait to be OPEN TO ALL, including Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Wednesday. “If they don’t agree, the bombing starts, and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before.”
Trump has issued similar threats in the past month, but backed down when Tehran did not agree to end the war.
