President Donald Trump is attacking the US media for reporting that the US military is concerned about the depletion of resources during the war against Iran.
“The people and Media Outlets that keep harping on the fact that we have no ammunition (And they are 100% wrong!), are actually treasonous,” he wrote on Truth Social Thursday. “They do it because they would rather see the United States LOSE a War that we’re easily WINNING, than see me WIN!”
He added in a second post, “For the treasonous SCUM that refuses to accurately report on our Military Operation in Iran, we have virtually unlimited amounts of Mid to High Grade Ammunition, far more than we could ever use for this, or for any other War.”
Over the past three months, multiple outlets have spoken with US officials who say the US is facing shortages of military assets, including missiles and surface ships. The Washington Post reported on Sunday, speaking with multiple sources who said Top military commanders warned that prolonged large-scale operations against Iran were unsustainable.
One person familiar with the assessment told The Post that the war in Iran has been “too much for too long.” A second explained the outlook for the military is now “more dire” overall.
Sources to other outlets have also revealed that the US has depleted a large number of its stand-off munitions and missile interceptors during the war against Iran.
