President Donald Trump is asking Europe to pay the US billions of dollars for military aid sent to Ukraine under the Joe Biden administration. 

“Also, please let it be known, that the Biden Administration gave far more Munitions away to Ukraine, at no cost to them, whatsoever, than we have used in Iran,” the President wrote on Truth Social Thursday. “Hundreds of Billions of Dollars was given to Ukraine and NATO, free of charge, that Europe would have paid for — If they were only asked, but we will be asking for that money, though somewhat belatedly!”

The President was addressing the myriad reports that the US has significantly depleted its stockpiles of key munitions and has strained the surface fleet during the war against Iran. 

Under President Joe Biden, the US sent Ukraine tens of billions of dollars in military aid. President Trump has not approved weapons packages to Kiev, but has allowed European countries to buy American weapons for Ukraine. 

Still, Trump has been unable to fulfill his campaign promise to end the war. Rather than mediating talks between Moscow and Kiev, Washington has fueled the conflict by providing Ukraine with intelligence to hit targets inside Russia. 

Twice this week, Ukrainian President Zelensky has threatened to target civilian airliners inside Russia. Russian President Putin said the remarks amounted to a bid for “state terrorism.”
