  • The Senate passes a bill that instructs the Department of Education to target anti-Israel speech on college campuses. [Link]
  • Bowe Bergdahl requests a pardon from President Obama. Bergdahl will face a trial in April if the pardon is not granted. [Link]
  • In Afghanistan, the Tablian kill 23 civilians in the Kandahar Providence as revenge for Afghan police killing several Tablian fighters. [Link]
  • Somalian Security Forces fight with the Islamic State group in Somalia for the first time. [Link]
  • Oil fires are slowing the anti-ISIS coalition’s liberation of Mosul. ISIS set 19 oil wells on fire, and only 3 fires have been extinguished. [Link]
  • Secretary of Defense Ash Carter says the US must remain in Iraq after ISIS is defeated. [Link]
  • Recent fighting in Aleppo has led to 31,500 displaced residents. The displaced are from areas that were held by rebels until recently liberated by the Syrian government. Reports are surfacing of the Syrian rebels killing civilians that are fleeing, so far its estimated 50 have been killed. There are also reports of the Syrian government detaining fleeing civilians as suspected rebels. [Link]
  • Pro-Syrian Government force’s airstrikes kill 19 on Sunday. [Link]
  • Yemen’s central bank was operating as a natural party and critical to keeping the crisis in Yemen from becoming worse. Yemen’s president Hadi has shut down the neutral central bank and started his own. This has led to 1.2 million Yemeni not getting paid and will likely make the humanitarian crisis much worse. [Link]
  • In Taiz Yemen, 172 were killed in November. 23 of those dead were children. Indiscriminate rocket fire and sniper fire are blamed for the deaths. [Link]
