Venezuela

  • Juan Guaido calls for major marches on May 1st. [Link]

Kim/Putin Meeting

  • Putin/Kim talks end without a signed agreement. Kim said the peace of the Korean Peninsula depends on the attitude of the US. [Link]
  • After meeting with Kim, Putin says North Korea is willing to denuclearize if given international security guarantees. [Link]

Myanmar

  • 2 Reuters journalists have lost their final appeal and will serve a seven-year sentence in Myanmar. The journalists were jailed for documents they possessed while investigating the ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya. [Link]

  • Iran’s foreign minister says Bolton is responsible for the aggressive US policy towards Iran. [Link]
  • A new study finds US airstrikes killed at least 1,600 civilians in Syria. [Link]
  • A UN report says the Yemen War has set the country back more than 20 years. [Link]

Africa

  • The UN/US backed Libyan government has pushed the forces of Field Marshal Haftar out of southern Tripoli. Haftar’s troops pushed into southern Libya after starting an offensive to take the city a few weeks ago. [Link]
  • Sudan’s ruling military council and the leadership of popular protest groups agree to form a committee to resolve differences. [Link]
