US News

  • Texas raises the smoking age to 21. [Link]
  • Officials release video showing corrections officers turning off a body camera then beating a restrained prisoner. [Link]
  • Senator Rand Paul says someone in the deep state prevented John Brennan from losing his security clearance after Trump gave the order to have it stripped. [Link]
  • Congressman Duncan Hunter admits his Marine unit probably killed hundreds of civilians in Iraq. [Link]  
  • House Democrats will work to prevent Trump from having the authority to send new detainees to Gitmo. The Republicans and Trump will likely oppose the effort. [Link]

Immigration

  • Trump says a deal has been reached with Mexico over immigration and he will not place tariffs on Mexican imports. [Link]
  • Mexico will deploy 6,000 border police to its southern border. [Link]

Russia

  • An American and Russian warship nearly collided in the Philippines Sea. Moon of Alabama says the rules of the sea says the US should have taken evasive maneuvers first. [Link]

Israel

  • The US ambassador says Israel has a right to annex some of the West Bank. [Link]
  • Israel refused to give travel permits to parents or family members of a 5-year-old girl who was battling cancer. The family lived in Gaza, and she needed treatment from a Palestinian hospital in East Jerusalem. The girl was allowed to go, but not a single family member was allowed to be with her as she battled cancer. The girl was only reunited with her family once doctors said they could do nothing else for her and sent her back to Gaza where she died. [Link]

Turkey

  • Russia says it will begin delivering the S-400 air defense system to Turkey in two months. [Link]
  • The Pentagon gives Turkey until July 31 to cancel its order of S-400 air defense from Russia or it will lose its access to the F-35. [Link]
  • The US will not accept any more Turkish soldiers into the US for training on the F-35. The 26 Turkish soldiers currently training to fly and maintain F-35s will not be immediately removed from the US. The US made the move because Turkey is buying the S-400 from Russia. [Link]
  • Turkey says it killed 43 Kurdish militants in northern Iraq in the past two weeks. [Link]

Saudi Arabia

  • The Trump administration will allow some high-tech bomb parts to be produced in Saudi Arabia. [Link]
