US News

  • Illinois has collected over $1 billion from tickets issued by red-light cameras. [Link]
  • The Democrats introduced a bill that extends the Patriot Act for three months. [Link]
  • Hunter DeRensis breaks down ambassador Sondland’s impeachment hearing. He explains it did not produce the smoking gun the Democrats claim. [Link]
  • The Senate unanimously passes the Hong Kong Human Rights Bill. If signed into law, the bill would prevent some weapon sales to Hong Kong and sanction officials accused of human rights violations. [Link]

Bolivia

  • Bolivian police deployed armored vehicles to clear protesters preventing access to a fuel production facility. Police killed three protesters. [Link]
  • Over 30 protesters have been killed in Bolivia since the coup. [Link]

Ukraine

  • Ukraine is expanding the investigation into Bursima to include state funds. [Link]

Afghanistan

  • Two US soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. [Link]

Middle East

  • Turkey has 120 journalists locked in jail. [Link]
  • Turkey says the Syria Kurdish YPG carried out a rocket attack near a school in a Turkish held town, killing three. [Link]
  • Israel says it carried out several airstrikes against the Iranian and Syrian military in Damascus. Syria says two civilians were killed in the attack, and air defenses destroyed most Israeli missiles. [Link]
  • Saudi’s King says his country is seeking a political settlement in Yemen. [Link]
  • The Houthi release the three ships and 16 crewmen it seized earlier this week in the Red Sea. Two of the ships were South Korean flagged, and one was Saudi flagged. The Houthi say the ships were seized after entering Yemeni waters without permission and were released because of the relationship between Sanaa and Seoul. [Link]

Africa 

  • The US is threatening sanctions against Egypt because Egypt signed an agreement to buy Russian warplanes. [Link]
  • Haftar’s forces have started to bomb the eastern Libyan city Misrata. The army reports targeting Turkish vehicles provided to the eastern Libyan army. [Link]
  • Islamist militants are accused of committing a massacre of at least 15 civilians in the Congo. [Link]
  • At least 20 people were killed in Mali. They were likely killed in ongoing ethnic violence. [Link]
  • Militants killed eleven Malian soldiers near the border with Niger. [Link]
  • Twenty-four Malian soldiers and 17 militants were killed during a battle in northern Mali. [Link]
