  • The Senate approves Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education. Devos has been the most contested of Trump’s appointments so far. The Senate vote was 50-50 with Mike Pence breaking the tie. [Link]
  • In a conversation with sheriffs around the country, Trump expresses support for civil asset forfeiture. [Link]
  • The Senate has voted 49-43 to prevent Senator Warren from speaking on the Senate floor until the confirmation vote on Jeff Sessions is completed. The Senate voted that Warren violated rule 19 by criticizing Jeff Sessions, who is a Senator, on the Senate floor. [Link]
  • The Army Corps granted the easement needed to complete the Dakota Access Pipeline. The pipeline can now be completed. [Link]
  • Congressman Thomas Massie introduces a bill to eliminate the Department of Education. [Link]
  • US troops and tanks arrive in Estonia. The troops and tanks are a part of the NATO buildup to combat Russian aggression. Estonia shares a border with Russia. [Link]
  • The Israeli bill that retroactively legalized 4,000 settlement homes that were built on privately owned Palestinian land, will also allow the Israeli government to seize Palestinian land in the future and give it to Isreali settlers. [Link]
  • A suicide bomber in Afghanistan kills 21 people outside of the Afghan Supreme Court building. It is unknown what group is responsible for the attack. [Link]
  • Airstrikes hit the al-Nusra Front Headquarters in the Idlib providence. The strikes killed 37 people including 24 civilians. It is unknown who carried out the airstrikes. [Link]
  • Yemen has withdrawn permission for the US to conduct ground raids in Yemen. This move follows the botched raid that occurred on Trump’s second weekend in office. [Link]
