  • Iranian students with valid visas are being detained when they get to the US and some of them have been deported. The Iranian students have reported CBP agents accusing them of being radical Islamists. [Link]
  • The US sanctions and travel bans imposed by Trump on Cuba is harming the Cubans who are in the tourism industry. [Link]
  • The US sanctions 15 planes owned by Venezuela’s state oil company. Secretary of State Pompeo says the planes have been harassing military flights. [Link]
  • The US is pushing China to join arms control talks with the US and Russia. [Link]

Glenn Greenwald

  • Glenn Greenwald had been charged with hacking by the Brazilian government. Greenwald is the editor of Intercept Brazil and the outlet has published several documents revealing corruption in the Brazilian government. [Link]

North Korea

  • North Korea says it is done with a moratorium on tests of its nuclear weapons program. [Link]

Afghanistan

  • A drone strike in Afghanistan killed a leader of a Taliban splinter group. A report now shows the US also killed 15 innocent people in the strike. [Link]

Middle East

  • Both leading political factions in Israel are pushing for the annexation of parts of the West Bank. [Link]
  • Lebanon announced it formed a new government. The new prime minister is Hassan Diab. [Link]
  • US soldiers in Syria stop a convoy of Russian soldiers from reaching oil fields Trump has claimed for the US. No shots were fired on either side. [Link]
  • The US is looking to deport an Iraqi man on clearly false charges. The man fears he will lose his life over a crime he is innocent of if he is forced to return to Iraq. [Link]
  • Saudi Arabia carried out several bombings targeting Yemen’s capital city. [Link]

Burkina Faso

  • Thirty-six people at a market in Burkina Faso were killed by militants. The government has labeled it a terrorist attack but did not name the group responsible. [Link]
