  • Trump signs three executive orders dealing with public safety. [Link] The first order creates a task force to look into crimes and police deficiencies. [Link] The second executive order directs his staff to develop new laws to protect all law enforcement from crimes. [Link] The third executive order is an order to target cartels and criminal organizations. [Link]
  • The Ninth Circut Court of Appeals refuses to reinstate Trump’s travel ban. The next step for the Trump Administration will be to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court. [Link]
  • A report from the Department of Homeland Security says that Trump’s border wall will be a series of fences and walls. The report says that wall could cost up to $21.6 billion and take three and a half years to complete. [Link]
  • New Jersey Governer Chris Christie vetos a bill that would have made it illegal to seize property through civil asset forfeiture before someone was convicted of a crime. [Link]
  • Two US Defense officials said that a US plane had an unsafe close encounter with a Chinese plane over the South China Sea. [Link]
  • The top US commander in Afghanistan says he is a few thousand troops short of being able to break the stalemate with the Taliban. [Link]
  • A Russian airstrike kills three Turkish soldiers fighting ISIS outside of al-Bab. The strike seems to be a mistake and Putin has expressed condolences for the Turkish soldiers killed. [Link]
  • According to the World Health Organization, less than 45% of the healthcare centers in Yemen are operational. [Link]
