US News

  • A high dollar supporter of Mayor Pete is behind the group – Shadow Inc – that produced the app that caused major delays in producing the DNC Iowa Caucus results. [Link]
  • The 25 mm gun on the F-35 is still unacceptably inaccurate. [Link]
  • A veteran in a Facebook group has compiled a list of over 300 vets that got cancer after being at the K2 base in Uzbekistan. [Link]
  • The head of Navy Special Forces – Rear Admiral Colin Green – will retire early. The admiral disagreed with Trump’s decision to reinstate war criminal Eddie Gallagher as a Navy SEAL. [Link]
  • The US deploys low-yield nuclear weapons on submarines. [Link]
  • Taiwan’s Vice President will attend a high-level prayer breakfast in the US. [Link]

Afghanistan 

  • The Taliban say the US is undermining the peace process. The Taliban accuse the US of pushing for a reduction of violence so negotiations can begin, then are dragging their feet in engaging in the peace process. [Link]

Middle East

  • Iran says it wants to resolve the conflict between Iran, UAE, and Saudi Arabia as quickly as possible, and that is what Soleimani was doing when he was assassinated in Iraq. [Link]
  • Turkey’s President says he will not allow the Syrian government to continue to retake the Idlib Province from Syrian rebels. [Link]
  • The US has spent nearly $2 trillion dollars fighting the Iraq War. [Link]
  • Yemen’s al-Qaeda affiliate, AQAP, claims responsibility for the Pensacola base shooting. Trump has also made this claim. However, no one has provided evidence the group was behind the shooting. [Link]

Africa 

  • France will add 600 troops to fight Islamists in the Sahel region of Africa. There are already 4,500 French troops in the region. [Link]
  • Libyan peace talks started in Geneva on Monday. [Link]
  • The UN Head says countries continue to send weapons to Libya in violation of a UNSC arms embargo. The UN also said there was genuine will from the Libyan warring parties to reach an end to the conflict. [Link]
  • Rights groups say militants killed over 70 people during a string of attacks in the Congo. [Link]
  • Egypt sentences a former special forces officer and 36 others to death for plotting attacks against Egypt. The officer was arrested in Libya by Haftar’s Libyan National Army and turned over to Egypt. [Link]
