US News

  • A teenager posted about having coronavirus on Instagram. A police officer came to her house and threatened to start arresting people for disorderly conduct if the post was not removed. The post was deleted, but now the family is suing the police department. [Link]
  • Guatemala says 50 migrants the US put on a plane and deported, tested positive for coronavirus. [Link]
  • The US says China must be included in any new arms control deals with Russia. Russia restated its position that it is ready to extend the New Start Treaty at any time. [Link]
  • The US and Russia say they will not commit to a global UN ceasefire. [Link]
  • Canada says the US has agreed to suspend non-essential travel over the border for another 30 days. [Link]

France

  • Half of the crew on the only French aircraft carrier tests positive for coronavirus. [Link]

Myanmar

  • Fighting between the Myanmar Army and the insurgent group Arakan Army has killed 32 people in the past month. The UN reports most of the victims were women and children. [Link]

Afghanistan

  • The Taliban released a list of 33 times the US violated their agreement with the Taliban by carrying out drone strikes. [Link]

Iran

  • The IRGC will begin increased patrols of the Persian Gulf and warns the US from making mistakes. [Link]
  • Iran says it has developed combat drones that can carry three bombs 930 miles. [Link]
  • Tensions between the US and Iran seem to be declining in Iraq. [Link]

Africa

  • The Libyan Government of National Accord is pushing its advance on the Libyan National Army. [Link]
  • An Ebola patient in the Congo fled a treatment center, sparking fears of a new outbreak. Recently, there were no reported Ebola deaths in the Congo for several weeks. [Link]
  • Nigeria says “armed bandits” killed nearly 50 people in raids on several villages. [Link]
