US News

  • The family of Duncan Lemp – who was murdered by police while in his bed in the middle of the night – has been threatened with a $5,000 fine and a year in jail for protesting the police department’s lack of transparency in Duncan’s murder. [Link]
  • The Trump admin is considering blocking Uranium imports from Russia and China in an attempt to give a boost to domestic Uranium production. [Link]
  • The US sails a warship through the Taiwan Strait for the second time this month. [Link]
  • Trump says he does not believe Kim Jong-un is ill. Reports earlier in the week suggest the dictator was on his deathbed. [Link]

The Philippines

  • The President of the Philippines threatens to declare martial law if communist rebels disrupt the flow of relief. [Link]

Middle East

  • The IRGC threatens to attack US warships if the ships are a threat to Iran. [Link]
  • The Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen says it will extend its unilateral ceasefire in Yemen for another month. So far, the ceasefire has been ineffective. The Houthi continue to reject the Saudi ceasefire unless the blockade that is starving the Yemeni people is lifted. [Link]
  • Thirty people were killed in fighting in northern Yemen over the past 48 hours. [Link]

Africa

  • Libya’s Government of National Accord continues to push its advance against the opposing Libyan National Army. [Link]
  • The WHO warns that efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus could lead to a doubling of deaths in Africa from malaria to 769,000. [Link]
  • Fourteen separatists were killed in clashes with police in the Congo. [Link]
