George Floyd Protests

  • Two Buffalo police officers were fired and charged with 2nd-degree assault for pushing a 75-year-old man to the ground. The rest of the Buffalo emergency response police team resigned from the team in protest of the officers being fired. [Link]
  • The AP finds most protesters in DC and Minneapolis were local and not affiliated with any group. [Link]
  • US Press Freedom Tracker finds the police are responsible for 80% of the attacks against journalists. [Link]
  • CBS News reports Trump wanted to deploy 10,000 troops across the country but was talked out of it by advisers. [Link]
  • Trump announces he is withdrawing National Guard troops from DC. [Link]
  • Tensions between the president and Pentagon are nearing a breaking point. Trump has pushed the military to respond to the protests. [Link]

US News

  • A Louisiana police chief is accused of stealing $4,000. After he was charged and arrested, he announced he would remain chief of police. [Link]
  • A Pennsylvania man had his conviction thrown out after spending 28 years on death row. He will be released after posting bail. [Link]
  • Trump directs the military to reduce US troops levels in Germany from 34,500 to 25,000. [Link]
