  • A black man in Michigan was wrongfully arrested after being identified by facial recognition. He was held for 30 hours before being released on bail. [Link]
  • The FBI doubles down on contracts with companies that monitor social media. [Link]
  • 400 National Guards troops were deployed to DC to protest statues. [Link]
  • The DC Circuit Court orders the charges against Michael Flynn dropped. [Link]
  • A federal grand jury returned another superseding indictment on Julian Assange. The new indictment does not add new changes, but it extends the scope of the alleged conspiracy. The DoJ is claiming Assange instructed the leader of the hacking group LulzSec to carry out hacks and give WikiLeaks information. [Link]

Europe

  • Trump met with the Polish president in the first in-person meeting with a world leader since the Covid outbreak. The meeting could result in a new US/Poland defense agreement that deploys US troops to Poland. [Link]
  • Kosovo’s president was accused of war crimes by the Hague. [Link]

Middle East

  • The US says Russia and China will be isolated at the UN if those countries continue to oppose the US effort to extend the arms embargo on Iran. [Link]

  • A US official says ISIS is becoming a global network to promote extremism. [Link]
