North Korea 

  • North Korea says there is no need for talks with the US. [Link]
  • Trump’s point man for talks with North Korea will travel to South Korea. [Link]

Afghanistan 

  • A newly released memo shows intelligence agencies only assessed the Russian bounty claim with moderate and low confidence. [Link]
  • The Afghan government is refusing to release about 600 prisoners that the Taliban placed on their list to be released. Finishing the prisoner swap is one of the last barriers to begin direct talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government. [Link]

Middle East

  • Two infants in Gaza died waiting for medical permits to get treatment in Israel. [Link]
  • A fire caused significant damage to an Iranian nuclear facility. The Iranian government says the cause of the fire has not been determined. [Link]
  • Fighting between the Syrian Army and IS leaves 50 dead. [Link]

Africa

  • Militants killed Twenty-seven civilians on motorbikes in Mali. [Link]
  • Over 150 people have been killed in protests in Ethiopia. The protests started after a popular singer was killed. Eleven of the dead are state security forces. [Link]
