  • The US is targeting Venezuela’s shipping industry with sanctions. [Link]

China

  • After the US sanctioned Chinese officials, China announced retaliatory sanctions against the US. [Link]
  • Chinese scholars are suggesting the country should act more aggressively against the US in the South China Sea. [Link]

Afghanistan

  • The NYT continues to push discredited theories about Russia arming the Taliban. [Link]
  • Taliban attack on an Afghan government compound killed ten members of Afghan security forces. [Link]
  • Australian special forces were found to have killed ten unarmed civilians in Afghanistan. The slaughter took place during 2012. [Link]

Middle East

  • A Lebanese man – who was in prison in the US for supporting Hezbollah – was released. His release was secured by indirect talks between the US and Iran. [Link]

  • The Houthi claim they have destroyed targets within Saudi Arabia by drone and missile attacks. [Link]

Africa

  • Turkey says it is not against a ceasefire in Libya because the Government of National Accord – backed by Turkey – would not benefit from the truce. [Link]
  • The US supports the Mali and Burkina Faso governments as their military are increasingly shown to be engaging in mass killings. [Link]
