  • An Air Force surveillance plane has been spying on the people of Portland. [Link]
  • Trump officially changes the US interpretation of international arms agreements to allow for less restricted drone sales to foreign countries. [Link]

Great Power

  • Germany rejects a Trump proposal to allow Russia back into the G7. [Link]
  • A ceasefire negotiated between Russia and Ukraine takes effect in Ukraine. [Link]
  • Russia begins selling oil from the Arctic to China. [Link]
  • The US carried out a record number of military flights near China in July. [Link]

Korea

  • North Korea declares an emergency in a town near the South Korean border. A man is believed to have Covid after illegally crossing into South Korea and returning. So far, North Korea has not reported any cases of Covid. [Link]

Afghanistan

  • The US Special Envoy to Afghanistan will travel to Kabul in an effort to facilitate talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government. [Link]

Israel

  • Israel destroyed a Palestinian building that was set to be a Covid testing site. Israel destroyed the building because it didn’t have a permit. [Link]
  • An Israeli court rules Palestinian prisoners do not have a right to social distancing or other Covid protections. [Link]
  • Israel carried out a helicopter attack against Syrian targets. Israel said it was responding to mortar fire that landed inside of Syria. [Link]
