  • Trump signs an order that prevents landlords from evicting people who make less than $99,000 a year. [Link]
  • A US court rules the spying program exposed by Edward Snowden was illegal, and US officials lied about it. [Link]
  • Three companies who owned the oil tankers seized by the US filed a lawsuit. The US claims the tankers were bringing Iranian oil to Venezuela. The companies claim that the oil was not Iranian and was not heading to Venezuela. The US has also taken down the companies’ websites. [Link]
  • Secretary of State Pompeo announces new restrictions on Chinese diplomats that limit the diplomats’ ability to attend college campuses and cultural events. [Link]

Russian

  • German Chancellor Angela Merkle says Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny was positioned with a Novichok nerve agent. [Link]

Afghanistan

  • The US sanctions an ICC prosecutor for looking into US war crimes in Afghanistan. [Link]
  • The Afghan government reports it is prepared to begin talks with the Taliban in Qatar. The US pledged the Afghan government to release 5,000 Taliban prisoners. The Afghan government reports all but seven have been released. [Link]

Israel

  • Israel attacked a Syrian airport. Syria reported most of the missiles were intercepted, and no casualties were reported. [Link]

Africa

  • A suicide bomber kills seven people in Cameroon. [Link]
  • The US will cut up to $100 million in aid to Ethiopia over a regional dispute caused by a dam Ethiopia is building. [Link]
