  • A grand jury charged one of the three police officers involved in the murder of Breonna Taylor. The officer was charged for wanton endangerment for firing into Taylor’s neighbor’s apartment. [Link]
  • Kentucky’s governor announces the National Guard will enter Lexington to retain order. [Link]
  • Maine will be the first state to use rank-choice voting in a presidential election. [Link]
  • Hunter Biden received $3.5 million from Russian billionaire Elena Baturina while his dad was vice president. The transfers were uncovered in a Congressional probe but did not determine the reason for the payments. [Link]

  • Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warns the Chinese are trying to infiltrate state, city, and local governments. [Link]
  • Trump announces new sanctions on Cuba. The sanctions prevent US citizens from spending money at properties owned by the Cuban government and prevent Americans from buying Cuban cigars and liquor. [Link]

Afghanistan 

  • Delegates remain pessimistic about hopes for major progress at Afghan peace talks. [Link]
  • The Taliban overran a government checkpoint and killed 28 soldiers. [Link]

Middle East

  • At least 28 have been killed by fighting between the Syrian government and ISIS near Raqqa. [Link]
  • The UN cuts aid to 300 healthcare facilities and reduces food assistance in Yemen. [Link]
  • Residents report heavy fighting restarted near the key Yemeni port city Hodeida. [Link]
