China

  • The US has started to withdraw high-ranking military officers from embassies in Africa and the Middle East to refocus on Russia and China. [Link]
  • The US, Japan, India, and Australia begin their largest naval war games in over a decade. [Link]
  • The US is moving closer to selling Taiwan MQ-Seahawk drones. [Link]

Afghanistan

  • ISIS-K attacked Kabul University for the second time in a week. The first attack killed 35 and the more recent attack killed 22. [Link]

Middle East

  • Israel has destroyed the home of over 700 Palestinians this year. This is the highest number since 2017. [Link]
  • US sanctions on Iran are restricting the country’s insulin supply. [Link]
  • If Biden wins the election, he will keep troops in Syria. [Link]

Africa

  • France claims to kill about 50 Islamic fighters in Mali with airstrikes. [Link]
  • Ethiopia deployed forces to a region where the people are seeking more independence. Ethiopia says it deployed the fighters after federal forces came under attack. [Link]
