US News

  • The Biden administration will send people door to door in an effort to get more people to take a covid vaccination. [Link]
  • An Illinois doctor reviewed a case file, and without examining the child, determined the child was suffering from abuse from Munchausen by proxy. The child and his brother were removed from their parents’ care. The state also took the third child after the mother gave birth. Doctors found the child suffered from an actual genetic condition and was not abused. After over a year – and $60,000 in legal fees – the family was reunited. The children suffer from mental health disorders because of being separated from their parents. [Link]
  • The Pentagon canceled its cloud program, JEDI. JEDI was estimated to cost $10 billion and the contract had been awarded to Microsoft. The companies bidding on the contract sued each other, and the Pentagon, alleging corruption in the selection process. [Link]
  • The NYTs is pushing fact-free claims that Russia launched a massive ransomware attack and targeted the RNC. [Link]

Latin America

  • Haiti’s president Jovenel Moise was assassinated in his home. [Link]
  • Biden reaffirms support for Juan Guaido. Guaido has no power but declares himself president of Venezuela. [Link]

Afghanistan

  • CENTCOM claims the withdrawal from Afghanistan is 90% complete. [Link]

Middle East

  • Iran blames Israel for an attack on Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency building in Karaj. The attack occurred on June 23rd. [Link]
  • Iran informs the IAEA it will reproduce 20% enriched uranium into nuclear fuel rods. [Link]
  • A drone hit near the Erbil Air Base in Iraq. The US reports no casualties in the attack. [Link]
  • A rocket attack on the Ain al-Asad Air Base in Iraq injured two people. US forces are housed at that base. [Link]
  • The UK has about 30 troops in Yemen assisting and training Saudi soldiers. [Link]
