US News

  • The White House is working on an ‘ethics’ plan for Hunter Biden to sell his artwork. The plan will allow Hunter to sell his pieces, some sell for as much as $500,000, without revealing to Hunter who the seller is. [Link]
  • A whistleblower alleges Servpro – the fire and water damage clean-up company – is running a migrant children detention facility in Texas. [Link]

Haiti

  • Haiti’s government reported 28 people – 26 Colombians and two Americans – were involved in the assassination of the president. Fifteen Colombians and two Americans have been arrested. Three other Colombians have been killed and eight remain at large. Taiwan reports 11 were arrested at their diplomatic compound. [Link]

Afghanistan 

  • Biden said the military mission in Afghanistan will end August 31st. [Link]
  • Afghanistan reports seven of its pilots have been assassinated off base in the past few months. [Link]
  • The Taliban claim to control 85% of Afghanistan, the government disputes the claim. The Taliban recently seized a district on the border with Turkmenistan. [Link]

Middle East

  • Saudi Arabia plans to fund a news agency in the US. [Link]
  • Israel demolished the home of a Palestinian family because a man who lived in the home killed an Israeli. [Link]
  • Israel is pressuring the US to keep Trump-era sanctions on Iran. [Link]
  • The US expects to hold the seventh round of indirect talks with Iran in Vienna. The talks are attempting to get the US to return to the Iran Nuclear Deal. [Link]

Iraq/Syria

  • The Pentagon says attacks on US troops in Iraq and Syria is a serious threat. [Link]
  • Kataib Hezbollah denies involvement in attacks on the US Embassy in Baghdad and instructs its fighters not to target the compound. [Link]

Africa 

  • The UN Security Council approves a plan that puts the African Union in charge of negotiating a solution between Ethiopia, Egypt, and Sudan over Ethiopia’s massive new dam on the Blue Nile. [Link]
  • Militants killed 18 people in a raid on a village in Nigeria. [Link]
