President Donald Trump’s envoy traveled to Moscow on Friday to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The talks followed a car bombing outside the city.

A top Russian military commander was killed by a car bomb near Moscow. The attack happened just hours before US envoy Steve Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Zelensky at the Vatican during Pope Francis’s funeral. Following the sit-down, Trump said he did not believe President Putin was committed to peace and posted that he would be adding new sanctions on Russia. Prior to the talks with Zelensky, Trump said a peace deal was close. 

The head of the North Atlantic alliance is traveling to the US for meetings with top officials in the Donald Trump administration. Secretary General Mark Rutte is expected to push the White House not to force Ukraine into a peace deal with Russia.

The US kicked off its largest annual military drills with the Philippines on Monday, simulating a full-on war with China.
