- Jeff Sessions held his first press conference as Attorney General yesterday. At the press conference, Sessions recused himself from overseeing the FBI investigation into Russia’s alleged interference in the election. [Link]
- During a speech, Trump promised a 12 aircraft carrier navy. The US currently has ten aircraft carriers. Another aircraft carrier is completed but has not been commissioned. One aircraft carrier is already under construction, so it appears Trump will just have to wait to meet this promise. [Link]
- A mother who homeschooled her children has not been able to see her children for over a month after her children were taken from her by CPS. CPS claims that a single mother cannot have full legal custody of her child and cannot homeschool them because she is a single mother. The children were removed from their mother because she was homeschooling. [Link]
- Rand Paul was prevented by House Republicans from seeing the House proposal to repeal Obamacare. Paul was hoping to share details of the plan with the American people. [Link]
- The US foreign policy in the Middle East created the refugee crisis. [Link]
- The Deputy National Security Advisor is looking for offensive military options to deal with North Korea. [Link]
- Airstrikes on a Mosul mosque killed civilians and ISIS fighters. The country behind the airstrike has not been revealed. [Link]
- Syrian government forces have recaptured Palmyra from ISIS. ISIS withdrew from the city but left mines throughout the city. [Link]
- The Syrian government is making a deal with the Kurds to prevent Turkey from attacking the Kurds in Manbij. Turkey has started to advance towards and attack Kurdish forces in the Kurdish-held city of Manbij. The Kurds will hand over the villages surrounding the city to the Syrian forces to prevent Turkey from attacking the city. Turkey has a ceasefire deal with the Syrian government that the Kurds are not involved in. [Link]
- The UN-sponsored Syrian peace talks are coming to a close with little progress having been made so far. [Link]
- The US hit several al-Qaeda targets with 20 missiles across south-central Yemen. These strikes are the first direct US actions in Yemen since the botched raid. [Link]
